My motor is not running right

Hello everyone,
I new to the rotary world with my first RX7 FD I purchased about 3 weeks ago. I was on my way back from work today and while driving on the highway I stepped on it once I finished my run I noticed that the car was running rough I continued to drive normally but is I got off the highway and got to a stop light the car was idling really rough almost like if there sparkplugs not working or something. I got home and got out of the car while still running and idling badly yet there is no smoke what so ever coming out of the exhaust. I just wanted to for tips on what I should look for/check.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

You probably popped off the MAP sensor vacum hose. Check that one first, located in the back firewall to the right of the UIM (if you are looking at the car from the front, see picture) if that hose came off, your car will idle like garbage as you described.

Thanks for the info, I checked this morning and found nothing out of order. I'm going to check compression this afternoon (hoping it's not the motor as it was rebuilt about 60k ago I would think it would of last a lot longer than 60k).

really hope you’re engine isn’t toast... but if it is, I do have a short block with good compression for sale... good luck.

Thanks, unfortunately, the front rotor has no compression so I need to do a rebuild. Since I'm new to the rotary world I have no idea what a short block is in comparison to my motor. All I know is that I have a 93 rx7, how much are you selling it for?

Short block is the "keg" the main "engine block" minus all of the accessories (alternator, water pump, AC, turbos, etc) but you already have all the extra stuff so in reality you only need the short block. (unless you puked an Apex seal through the turbos...) I'm looking for $1800 for the short block, rebuilds will cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of $4K to $5K, though you end up with a "new engine"

Mazda still sells these motors, Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda sold me one about this time last year, cost is around $4300 plus shipping, and it is a "brand new" not rebuilt or remanufactured motor. my motor's compression numbers were 110PSI and 120PSI (I have video)

You can save yourself some money by going with something like what I have, though consider the eventuality that even that motor will need work at some point. let me know if you have any other questions
