mount engine on stand without adaptor?
 

I have an engine stand from harbor freight but I do not have the adaptor for the rotary engine yet. Would it be possible to mount it on the engine stand to store it temporarily until the adaptor arrives?

Not really... Just be safe and get the adapter first... :)

ive done it a couple times via the flywheel and bailing wire, i wouldnt recommend it, the adapter is way better/faster/safer..

A piece of 3" channel works just as good as any adapter.

Wheres the cheapest to get the adaptor?

How handy are you? I made mine from flat stock. Used a piece of 1x2 bar for a spacer.

I've mounted several engines to a stand without an adapter. It's easy and yes you can assemble them this way too. You still mount to the front housing of the engine. If you are not building an engine and just want to hold it on a stand, you mount it from the transmission bolt holes at the rear. You don't need an adapter. You just need to look at it a little while to figure it out.

I agree, we have built several motors using the stand only. We remove the Side bracket just infront of the sparkplugs (hold ps or ac unit) and remove one of the studs and mount there using bolts and one factory stud. Works great and is easy to teardown or reassemble.

All you need to do is remove the studs that hold the ps/ac bracket on the front iron and get long bolts to go through the holes on the mounting arms of the stand. You may need to add some washers on the engine side to get clearance so you can rotate the engine during teardown/assembly. No bracket, adapter or angle iron needed.

That's exactly it but I've actually still used 2 of the stock studs. No spacers. One simple thing to do that no one ever mentions is to just drill a new hole in the mounting plate.

Anybody got pictures of the engine on the stand without the adapter? I'm sure i can figure it out from what you've said, but it's always easier if i've seen it.
