more hp inexpensively

i want to add more horsepower to my 87 rx7 n/t.? ive added a k&n fipk, replacing the old stock mufflers with 2 new rb muflers and getting a lighter flywheel. what other mods can be done to increase horsepower without installing a new 3 rotor engine.

my rx7 has no power steering i bearly use the a/c... i thought about increasing the 2 secondary injectors..to see if that would help me some after 3000 rpms.....

If you don't have to do emissions testing, you can gut the cats for more hp. Free power, except for your time that is. :)

Take care,

One thing I did on my 87 SE was remove the stock cats and get the bonez superflo kit. All one piece and took about an hour to rip the old cats out and replace with the bonez kit. Gave me an extra 15 or so hp.

Cats are a biggie. If your cats are original, chances are they're clogged up. If they're clogged, the chance is also good you're not getting enough psi to your 6 port intakes, which robs some more power aside from the exhaust itself being plugged.

If all that holds true in your case, you could see as much as a 30hp increase in your car (getting your original 146 back and then some).

Jim

P.S. Oh, and using the bonez kit will still keep you emissions legal.

So far I have removed my cats, taken out the air and power steering , removed the heater core , and have a modified air box. I want to get an electric fan next. All in all the biggest thing I have noticed is that the car is more responsive. It seemed to lose that first gear bog that it had and just more drivable.I really don't know how many horses I freed up , the car just feels better ...faster.
