in the middle of cleaning rotors

so this is the first rebuild ive done like ever and im cleaning the rotors. i searched for ways to clean the carbon and stuff off of them and seen a lot recommending chem dip . so i bought some and soaked one of them overnight, flipped it, and left for work.

theres a clear line where the chem dip was since i couldnt fully submerge the rotor. i dont really want to leave them like this but is it okay to do so? unless theres another way of cleaning it more (wetsand?)

for now, i washed them with hot soapy water, dried them, coated with pb blaster, and ziploced them. i havent done the other rotor yet.

Why not now flip them Face down...one face at a time?..do each face.,say 3 hours..should take that middle part out and make it clean.

Or just get a scotch brite wheel and "buff it"?

I put them face down, for only about an hour though. Was looking to see if it okay to do those scotch brite pads/wetsand instead to clear it up so I don't have to play the waiting game haha.

I'll try the pads though, thank you.

I personally use ZEP industrial degreaser and pour it straight into a plastic 5 gal bucket, do not add any water to it. Place the rotors in there for 24hours roughly and they will come out perfect after a rise of water. You will also want to use WD40 to prevent rusting. I go an extra step and hot solvent ultrasonic clean all parts.

the rotors seem to get the same gold colored plating that a lot of the bolts get. its ok to take the plating off, its just that the rotors will rust, as they are just iron

Scotch Brite pads, Castrol Super Clean or other degreaser, and some effort.

PB Blaster will dissolve that Ziploc bag so remove the rotors before the bag melts all over them.
