Metal bands for Water seal grooves?

Hello all,
I remember seeing somewhere on here that a member had come up with a "metal insert" that you put on in the water seal grooves along with the water seal to be able to use "broken/cracked" water ring landing irons... I haven't been able to find that thread or anything about it again. Wondering if anyone else had seen it, and where it can be located.
Thanks in advance
Jessie

Ben at RotaryEvolution came up with it, IIRC. Searching his name for threads started should be the easiest way to find it.

i don't come on here very often anymore, due to the lacking response with the inserts i stopped production of them. they aren't actually supposed to be a repair for already failed irons but an aid for when they do fail to buy more time before the inevitable occurs. in cases where people race their cars, a few laps or a few seasons can be the difference between winning and losing.

i still have materials, i just changed the options around some to suit me, if anyone wants them they can contact me via my website(all contact info is there) or ebay. preferrably a text or message there as, well, this place is rather dead now.

I usually use Slayer when working with water seals, although the last engine I built was in 2012 and I used Fexomat, so a metal composition turned out to work a lot better than a purely metal band...
