MazdaSpeed Miata tranny same as RX8 box?
 

A MazdaSpeed Miata 6 sp tranny ended up at our shop and I was wondering if anybody knows if this is the same basic box as the RX8 just with a different front bell housing? It looks like it is but its been a couple months since I saw an RX8 box on the Zoom Zoom tour.

If you don't get good info here, check mazda-speed.com. I didn't much care for that 6 speed tranny on my 05 MSM. Or maybe it was just the overall gearing...

It's the same type from the same manufacturer but is not the same just as the was the case with the Miata 5 speed and the NA S4 and S5 boxes.

So my next question would be can I get a different front bell housing and maybe input shaft to put this thing behind a rotary?
