Mazda block heaters

Just wondering, I know they sell them. How are they installed? Do you have to tap a line for something, or do they attach onto the block somewhere? Im looking at getting one, since my car will be outside in the winter

the ones i've seen actually make use of an already threaded area in the block. atleast the 12a's do. you leave it in there and just bust out the cord when needed. so it makes it alot easier that way :D

hmm well im certainly not going to thread anything into my block. Ive already got enough stuff in my water pump housing. Would be a cool thing if i could replace my drain plug of my radiator with the heater

There a couple different designs for that. They have one that is like a dipstick, and a magnetic one that sticks to the block. I dont know where you would stick it tho on a rotary, oilpan??

there are two threaded holes above the spark plugs on the housings... this would be a convenient spot to warm up

Why would you need a Block heater the engine heats up pretty quickly

mine is on the front rotor housing, like a plate that cover the whole spark plug area, and a little above and below. i think it stock, as it looks like it was rotary spec.
