major clutch issues--what to do?
 

86 gxl--with some mods,but anyway the pilot bearing was going out in it so had the clutch replaced with a stock o.e.m. Put about 500 miles on it and all it ever did was slip when it got hot,now then ,i had that replaced with a centerforce dual friction,put 500 on it was racing a mustang --ate him up,but any way it does the same thing when hot clutch slips badly.i had the fly wheel replaced.What im thinking is that i need a different flywheel ,maybe this one is heating up the clutch.What do you guys think any input would be great.

Only 500 miles and you're racing mustangs? You're probably burning your clutch. Break-in periods are a 1000 miles minimum, and you should never just hop in and drive on a new clutch. Start the car, let it idle, and warm up, go for a quick spin, then come back and shut it off and let it cool overnight. Then do it again. Its like break pads: lay hard into a new set before they're bedded and you're gonna go: screeeech, slam!
As well, Centerforce cultches are notorious for having large break-in times.
If it has been broken in properly (which I doubt after 500 miles only), check for oil contamination. Check to make sure your clutch slave cylinder isn't leaking, and then make sure your tranny front seal is good, very last. Only other possibilities: Bad flywheel (but you say it is new... hopefully been reurfaced?) or improper installation (maybe put the clutch disc on backwards?).
But I would bet my left ball to boost that you're burning it out by not allowing it to break in. Give it a rest for a while, dawg, and lay off those mad quick shifts, yo.

ok thats all good advice but one prob.When it gets hot --normal driving it starts to slip.new flywheel and new slave cylinder was installed.And it was the dual friction clutch i personaly talked to clutchmasters and they told me it should never slip after i put that many miles on her.they are going to take it back out again ,the shop said maybe the flywheel was not keyed in,maybe its actualy spinning when it gets hot and expands,Hell i dont know ,but i know the car had no probs before that first clutch was put in with another flywheel.--ya i will have to lay of the stangs now --but it just feels so good seeing that (what the fuck just happened look on there faces.(
