M2 Carbon CAI Box fitment problems. Need assistance.

I just installed my M2 carbon fiber cold air intake box this weekend and it sits about a quarter inch too high. I can still close the hood, but it sticks up by the same amount. I tried to get it to sit lower but there is a coolant hose that is proped up on a bracket that prevents this. I know that I could get the box to sit lower if I cut this bracket (removed it), but don't know if that would negatively affect the hose/cooling system.

Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

what radiator do you have?

Do they even sell aluminum ones anymore?

I don't think so. Try Rx7 fashion (i think) or do a search for aluminum cold air intake box's.

I found a good site about this very issue:

The M2 airbox should rest on top of the frame member on that side without undue clearance problems with the upper radiator hose. Once I managed to properly line up the primary turbo intake hose (MAJOR PITA), the rest of the install was a cinch. You can flip (reverse) the top radiator mount brackets for additional clearance if need be.

I had the same problem and I just removed that bracket and pushed the hose down.

yeah, I'm just going to remove the bracket. I think that is what M2 did as well. Wish they would have made some instructions. The install is fairly straight fwd but minor "glitches" can cause confusion.

The rx7fashion box fitment isn't that much better either...

it hits the radiator hose and doesn't seal off the radiator as there is a small "gap".

The only real benefit that I had heard is that it does sit lower and thus no issues with hitting the hood.

BTW, where did you get your airbox from??

Is it a new one from M2?

I had the original aluminum CAI from M2 (4 years ago)and had NO fitments issues.
I went single, sold it and now I have the all aluminum CAI from RX7 Extreme modified for a single.
I had a little issue with hitting the radiator hose. I got fixed once I installed the wide foot mounts, that lowered the radiator a tad and the good old hammer.
I knew the CAI would see my way. :D

I got the airbox off of this forum, and yes it is the new one from M2.
