Lowering Boost...

I just blew up my 88TII motor because of overboost. I believe that my 3" downpipe, and catlesss 2.5" dual exhaust caused a lack of backpressure not allowing my wastegate to open and stop the turbo from boosting. How accurate does this sound? 3rd gear pull at WOT and my stock boost gauge was pegged!!! i hear that some boost controllers like the greddy one can open the wastegate earlier and at the same time i hear the opposite. i dont know, but i want to make sure that the next rotary i put in there will not blow just becuase of my exhaust

Not very...
The freer flowing exhaust allows too much exhaust gases to run through the turbine section overrunning the wastegate - the wastegate is too small.

Not possible to open the wastegate earlier.

Dude, you live in PR! :D
You guys see temps over 60F? :)
I would think most of the states can see temps close to freezing, and really cold ambient can cause creep! :(
