limp mode problems
Ok its s5 t2
Fmic Rtek1.8 Straight pipe Beforee all this happen my ecu blew injector drive idk how so i replace ecu It drove well for a few months then this happens Now Car when first turn on runs fineee. After warm up and drivin under load check engine turns on n motor start to back firee not letting me rev up at all Check codes pull up I got tps omp n timing I redid timing Omp was changee out from another working motor i have Tps was adjustd gave me better throttle respond but still no luck Harness was also swap out with a fresh one and all ground where redoneI did my research but cantt find nothin else maybe i miss something Any help will be greatt she been sittin in the garage for over a month Please keep negative comment to your self |
After you redid things as stated does it still have any error codes?
|
Same exact codes
|
i can flick the key off n on while drivin n it will go away n then come back idk if that means anything
|
When the OMP goes south it usually takes the ECU with it so replacing one item isn't going to cut it most times. The notion that the car can be turned off then next time it starts it operates properly for a short time before incurring problems once again is symptomatic of a damaged ECU caused by a failed OMP.
|
Is there a certain spot the omp would damage on the ecu that i can cheeck?
Ive open ecu before and see no sort of damage at all Im paranoid to even stick a fresh ecu in there to see if it wrks Ecu already been changed once n it cost me a arm..... |
|
Ecu has been check for damage no sign of damage any were
Omp swap again wit othr wrking motor still nothin |

read the test procedures before continuing to just replace the pump.
i also find it odd that you have an Rtek 1.8 and it is still entering limp mode, since it is coded to not go into limp mode. |

then you don't have an Rtek chipped ECU.
|
i sent it to rtek my self
Wat can cause the problems im havin beside limp mode? |
sounds like limp mode to me. but you also mentioned the original ECU getting cooked, was the replacement also sent in to digitaltuning?
at any rate, even an idle OMP can fail from sitting around even if it worked when parked. according to their website all their series 5 chips are coded to eliminate limp mode for a faulty OMP, but that may only be if the OMP is disconnected. try disconnecting the metering pump and take it for a quick drive, if it works fine then you can premix and either block off the pump or leave it on the block and supplement it by premixing. i stopped using their chips years ago so that one thing i do not know, whether it needs to be disconnected or not to eliminate the limp mode. i figure they would eliminate it completely and just trigger the CEL. |
Yes wen i replace ecu both ecu was sent to rtek to get chip switch over
I was told new ecu was tested n wrking fine the omp i put on the motor came from a daily drivin rx If i were to disconnect the omp wouldnt that triggr the ecu to go straight into limp mode? |

If you are on Rtek 1.8, you should be able to toggle on/off limp mode via the software. (This info according the the pocketlogger website). So, if you had OMP function turned "ON" and the OMP shorted out, you would get limp mode.
If you run premix and turn off limp mode via the software, that should be the end of it. I am unsure whether the short in the OMP could burn out the "chipped" section of the ECU when OMP function was turned "ON." I would contact pocketlogger about that. |
I can see the oil flow wouldnt disconnectin it cause oil to stop flowin
Dont wanna cause more damage then wat i have jus wanna be sure |
it takes more than a few short trips for a malfunctioning OMP system to do much harm.
|
If you're worried about disconnecting it, just run a little bit of premix while you test it out.
I also want to note that I double-checked the information I posted earlier on the pocketlogger website and it appears that the MOP removal feature is "optional" on Rtek 1.8. Therefore, the information I gave you might be inaccurate in that you might need Rtek 2.x to be able to toggle the MOP on/off. If that is not a function of the 1.8 chip, then it would appear that you either chose to delete MOP or not at the time that you send in your ECU for rechipping. Hope that helps. |
their website doesn't give definitive information in regards to OMP removal, i'd just test it as i am fairly sure it is coded to ignore the OMP if the resistance check is infinite.
