j-spec FC 13b Turbo re-map ecu
 

Hey guys I have a couple of questions for the tech gurus for jdm re-maped ECUs for like the 13B Turbo Kouki versions S4 & S5

1) will this work in a USDm car if its been re-maped for J-spec fuel curve

this is the question I have about this.

Re-mapped ECU's aren't off-the-shelf generic solutions for every car, and they WON'T magically give you horsepower.

They're all made with different baseline mods in mind, and should really only be used on a car with those mods (ie, downpipe, exhaust, intake, FMIC, stock turbo at 14 pounds, etc)...

If you can research the brand and find out what it's designed for, and then use it like that, then great.

What you original said doesn't make any sense.
S4 = Zenki
S5 = Kouki
So if someone is claiming to have a chip or retuned ECU for *both* S4 and S5, that's basically impossible.

I don't think there is a real fuel map on the chips.
The major load sensor is the AFM, and I think there's just a linear formula with corrections factors (i.e. AIT, CWT).
Most of the early remapped ECU's claimed they could not tune the fuel map portion of the chip and only messed with the ignition timing maps.

Maybe the RTEK guys can confirm this?

Hi Ted so what you are saying is that it works similar to a old SU carby and the formula is what determines the fuel mapping along with corrections also in the formula. The formula would then be designed to work with 4 injectors the same size..So if you had bigger injectors and level shifted the signal from the AFM to a lower value to compensate..and this is how a RTEK works..
I had a thread about remapping stock Ecu's but this makes sense. I wonder if you could modify the linier formula making it steeper or shallower to suit??

ah so on that part with that ECU I have from an S4 or S5 it is also nessarry to have the injectors that were programed for that ECU ?

Dude,

first you have to find out which it is for, they are totally different ecu's the S5 controlls the OMP and if you put it on a S4 it will go into limp mode without it being hooked up.

if you put a S4 computer on an S5 there would be no way to control the OMP and you will burn up the motor as a result. Thats probaqbly the most noticeable difference but there are more besides that.
