i'm in a total bind. PLZ HELP!

to begin,i have two 84' rx-7's. not in such well shape. one of the two doesn't run, the other runs but it is totally runned down;the car has endless parts missing;the interior is not even his;the dash is falling apart;the body is more body filler than sheet metal.

the problem with the other is that the body is moderate it has some spots of rust but no holes or anything of that nature.
i've been working on cars for a while now but i've never worked on any rx-7.
i know just a bit about these cars but i have had a love for them for a long time.
i bought these two thinking i might be able to work on them, piece of cake.
turns out i dont know enough to do the work i intend on doing. there are endless questions i need to ask. first, let me start with these:

1.i want to fix both cars back to the original state as much as possible. am i bitting off more than i can chew?

2.i want to know what engine one of these cars has.not so long ago, i took the car that runs for a spin, i came upon an evo that wnated a bit so, i decided to race it. the evo took me at first(1st gear) once i shifted into 2nd i passed the evo as if it was parked.the evo never caught up.what i wanna know is was it my car that was fast or was it the driver of the evo that sucked?

3.how can i know, from looking at the engine, that it is a 13b or 12a?

sorry for such a long post but i really need help and there are many questions i need to ask.

If you know the answer to any of these questions or have any suggestions plz reply with anything possible. thanks :)

The engine size is cast into the housings on the block. 12a or 13 b, if it is fuel injected it's a 13b. And no you didn't beat the Evo, he backed off, sorry to burst your bubble.

Go to the 1st gen section of the forum, read the faqs at the top, read threads, start searching and learning. Once you know more, you will be able to ask more succinct questions.

As far as restoration goes, you will have your work cut out for you. I'm trying to restore to perfect factory original, and its not easy to get some parts, and even harder to get used parts in good enough shape for a proper restoration.

Not meaning in any way to be rude, but trochoid is right - start reading, like MANY MANY hours. Odds are whatever you may ask, has been asked as some other time.

And also, welcome to the forum!
