Ignition swap

I have recently converted my car to carburation and need some ignition set ups help. The car was/is a series 4 with a s5 motor and the entire harness has been removed. This ia a race car and weight is a major concern. I thought about using the stock electronic ignition but but that's alot of trouble and all the added crap that goes along with it... Second choice is to use a 85 distributor complete and a pair of MSD coils. Simplicity at it's best :) So I have all the parts but I'm not sure how to wire the thing up. The ignitors on the distributor body have two terminal each and there is a single black lead with a bayonett connector that I'm assuming is the tach signal. any help? thanks guys.

I have the drawing at work, but I'm currently at home. You might try the 1st gen section and search "ignition". Thats how I found what I have. There are a few websites showing different types of setups using direct fire this and direct fire that. I don't remember specifics but the info is out there. I also have some pics of my FP car with a 1st gen distributor on the S4 engine. I can email you thoses if your interested.

Out of curiousity, why did you convert to carb? I'm assuming you use to be fuel injected.

Thanks I just found the thread over on the the race car tech forum that pretty much covers it. Basically put 12v into the dis. and send the trigger sig to the apropriate coil. Still not sure about the tach lead though???

The car is a SCCA EP car and the rules have changed a bit this year and the Weber is the better choice for the time being. Rules!
