Ignition Problem Help!!!

I have a 81 RX-7 12A. I have some sort of ignition malfunction. My car is stalling out on me while driving but it doesn't actually die, it starts back up after a few seconds. I have put new coils, plugs and wires. Does this sound like the distributeer or ingnition control module or what? All advice is welcome and appreciated. Thank you.

Alright, just a warning, im not too good at trouble shooting, but i would first go through a replace all the filters, fuel, air. Try plugging the big hose on your studder valve. Its the line on the back/botton/drivers side of your air cleaner. Plug the big hose, but leave the rest plugged in. You might also have to adjust your idle screw after doing this. It is located behind the hose you are going to need to plug. If you need a better description of where things are get a hanyes manual, or post in the first gen forum, most of the guys there know their stuff.

Its not your igniton system. If that was failing you couldn't start your car, or it would run really bad.

Hi,
if your distributor has the mechanical contacts and is not electronic, the termination of the wiring to the single pole connector that attaches to the breaker contact any intermittently loss connection as the distributor goes into advance or at least changes its position from adavance and retard. from your description it would be in the leading not trailing curcuit since the car continues to run very poorly. if it were in the trailing side you may not notice much of a problem at all. The best thing to do is disconnect the wiring and check the resistance for the leading and trailing circuit between the breaker contact and the connector near the distributor. these wires like to "burn up".
if you have an electronic disributor still check for intermittent connection.

I need a 12a engine where do I post for one.?
I have to install one in san francisco asap in one of my 79 rx7's. I just registered in this site and am trying to find what is in it.
