IGN-1 ignition coil question
 

i'm been searching around to improve my ignition setup but i guess i'm limited for now. i see that a lot of people are using the IGN-1 coils and i'm wondering if is possible to use them with stock FC igniters or have even try with any results? thanks

I use AEM Coils ..the IGN 1A's that have the built in Trigger on the Haltech Ps1000.
not sure about your system if if can use those..you never elaborated on what you have or what it is on.

Yes you can it's the same as the "IGN 1A" but without built in igntors.

A (towards edge of coil) - Positive terminal, to battery power

B (center) - Negative terminal, wire to ignition module

C (towards inside of coil) - Secondary ground, connect to engine block.

Sorry I have a micro tech lt8s setup for stock coils. I have msd 6a box on primary but I still run the stock trailing. I want to upgrade my ignition with something more up to date. That's why I was asking

Use the IGN-1A and ditch everything else. You don't need the stock ignitors or the MSD. The coils will wire directly to the ECU.

even running waste spark like stock setup?

Yes, you can still run wastespark just needs to be wired in correctly. The lt8 and the wastespark ignition is holding you back. The ideal setup would be direct fire with ign1a coils set to 4.5ms. But you can't do that to the lt8 unless you could ship it to Australia and get it reflashed. But even then there's better ECU's out there. I just made the switch from microtech to haltech ps1k and I must say reality sucked in!

yeah i'm planning to switch to haltech too. i just can't do it at this moment, just spend a few bucks rebuilding my motor.

Yeah I understand :)

As said, yes, you do not need any of the stock components when using the IGN-1A coils.

If you're switching to Haltech anyway, wait to get the coils and do it all at once. Then you can just wire them for direct fire and not have to rework everything.
