Idle Problem

I just got my 1986 Non-turbo Mazda RX7 running some what properly. But i have one major problem with the high idle, i have to warm the car up (by pressing on the gas pedal, keeping it steady at 2000rpm's) for a good 15-20minutes. Does anyone know anything to fix the problem? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Welcome, noob! The problem you describe is typical for these cars. First things, first. Really, in order to be a good owner of a 20 year old car with a rotary engine, you should probably know your way around under the car's hood and under the car. Having said that, you should first do a full tune up. New spark plugs, new spark plug wires, a new fuel filter for starters. There's a device on these cars called a throttle position sensor (TPS). There's another device called a bypass air control valve (BAC). Learn what these are and what they do. Adjustment of the TPS makes a big difference in engine idle.

Look in the 2nd generation specific forum under FAQ,s. You'll find that the factory service manuals for the cars are on line. Learn how to use them.

Finally, there is a search function in the 2nd gen forum that will yield a lot of information for just about any problem that you might come across. Use it and the flame nazis will leave you alone.

Asura fc3s?? Didi you fix your idle problems? It's always great to hear back as to how problems were addressed and eventually fixed.
