IAT question

Hey everyone. I tried searching for the info already (using site:rx7club.com at the end of the query even) but no luck.

Basically I broke one of the tabs for the connection off of the sensor... it'll be a miracle if I can fix the sensor but I'm gonna give it a shot. If not what does it feed info to and can I run without it? Is tyere a way to fool the computer into thinking the IAT reading is good?

It feeds info to the ECU. Most will say it is used for hot starts but if it is used for other aspects of running the engine then don't be surprised. They are fairly cheap to replace though. If the plug is not connected the ECU will just default to a specific setting until you replace it.

Thanks!
I'm in the middle of an emergency rebuild and I just need the car to get me back home so I can do a proper rebuild.
So the hot start function is said to be controlled in part at least by that sensor's reading? Would hotstarts be an issue now or will the ECU be able to handle it?
I've got a three day drive fro Missouri to California and It would suck to have to let the car cool down every time I need to stop for fuel.

You should be okay especially if the engine is not on its last leg, which doesn't appear to be your situation.

Haha I may end up being short a corner seal plug or two (the little plastic bits) so we will see about that :(
