I need some advice!
I just had a new intercooler installed and some of the fins have bent. I would appreciate some suggestions on how to straighten them or what I could do to prevent more of them from bending. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

U should be able to straighten them like u would on a radiator, with either a small pair needle nose pliers of small screw driver. As for prevention, just try not to bump it against anything when removing or installing it. If u have room, u could use some pieces of cadboard on each side with large rubber bands or something like that to hold the cardboard in place.

thin small screwdriver works. just slide it in till its straight. even better if you have 2.

You can buy fin rakes and fin straightening pliers from http://www.eastwoodcompany.com
I've got both. Used the pliers a few times, but haven't had to use the rake yet. Easier to use than a screwdriver. |
You may be able to use a standard hair comb, depending on the fin/comb spacing. There is an actual tool to do this, it looks like, get this, a comb, but it may have several different sized combs on it to accomodate different fin spacing. The most important tool is patience, straightening fins can be tedious work. Good luck.
