I Need Info on the History of the 6mm Apex Seal

Im about to come up on some 6mm apex seals with no springs...

Does anybody know what the history and use of the 6mm apex seal was used for and on what application?

I was just wondering...

thanks

I know that they are useless. Anything above 3 doesn't really protect against detonation any better and just has worse low rpm sealing.

I believe they were used in the early 10a and 12a twin distributor engines. They are pretty rare, but I've seen or heard of nothing that says they are an improvement over the 3mm or 2mm seals. Good if you are wanting to build a collector car!

I was just wondering because they have been popping up here and there...good info though

The RX2 had a 12A with 6mm carbin seal and the spring is for start up compression which was for the later engines 13B , 12A & 20B. Once started the spin forec would throw the seal out agenst the wall. And as for the sring behind the carbin sael I just don"t remember it being there. I started at the dealer ship much later then the early RX2 RX3 & RX4's
