i dont even know how to diagnose this one...

I have a 85 gsl when in, 1st and 2nd pull car has minimal acceleration which leads to me carrying out 5000-6000 rpm to keep up with traffic, then when clutch is engaged at such high rpm, it continues to climb rpm until my car hits rev limiter thus backfires and returns to normal rpm, 1000 at idle :scratch: :scratch: I have also just installed a new stage 2 clutch not even 1000 miles ago, all the vac tubes, cables and plugs are connected correctly.

Did this occur after you installed the clutch?

If so, then it is quite possible something is not installed correctly.

It may be something as simple as the throttle cable pinched and hanging up.

are you describing the clutch slipping initially under load when engaging the next higher gear ?

or are you describing a free rev that occurs every time you close throttle and disengage the gearbox to select a gear ?

if the former, then you should be checking your free play of the clutch slave rod , you should be able to wiggle it slightly and so it is not applying pressure to the fork when at rest

typically mixing an NA slave onto a turbo gearbox will amount to too much rod displaced at rest

else if the clutch slips only for an instant there may be a problem with the cushion centre on the clutch disk

//

if the issue is the latter, a rev up every time you shut the throttle,, then you have mixed up some of the vac nipples on the LIM
would think that maybe you have pressure reg or the map sensor off the purge air nipples off the pheloinc spacer instead of true vacuum
and same is possibly true if you have the vacuum delay pot for the secondarys ( usually ex auto motors ) and have this hooked to purge air
( hooked like this it will flair open the secondary delays every time you shut throttles when changing gears )

Clutch not broken in correctly?

Aaron could be on to something
