How to rev to 9k with boost?
I want to add a large single to my care (FD) and want to increas the revs to 9k to take advantage of the turbos powerband. I will be running a large street port or a half bridge port and a T76. Still running the 9.0 rotors. Also looking at running 25psi.
I would just like to know what some of you guys have done. I am going to get the rotating assembly balanced but is there anything else I must do to reach my goals. Please no speculation. Would like to hear from people that have done such projects. |
i'm going to be dead up honest with you... there's really nothing to it. i myself and many 10 second and faster rx7's have revved to 9k rpms on stock blocks.
BUT, if you really want that piece of mind then you are already planning to do the best mod which is balancing the rotating assembly. for more insurance you can lighten the rotors and use ceramic apex seals. other than that have fun! :) |
Thats what I wanted to hear! Thanks!

Increase oil pressure, upgrade to race bearings, get the motor pinned, and get a lightweight FW with a scatter shield. Also if you would like cryo treat everything that would help plenty. Im surprised no one has brought these things up yet, if you want a reliable motor this is stuff you should do. - NICK

On the 25psi you will need Aux Injection or race gas
You can run up to about 18-20psi on pump with a cool intake charge. On the Flywheel, the ACT Street lite is the "Safest Flywheel" for High RPM's If you are running a normal belt driven water pump, you will need a under drive pulley for it or the main crank, the water pump is going to cavitasion at higher rpms |
its pretty easy, just dont change up a gear and hope you dont explode ;)

Good information has already been given. :) I second the motion for pinning the motor, raising oil pressure, and running race bearings. :icon_tup:

everything posted above and some e-85 tuning

While having the rotating assembly balanced, have the rotors clearenced too, otherwise e-shaft flex will take the rotors and housings out. Talk to Racing Beat, they do that kind of work.

Every engine builder that I have talked to has mentioned the Intake Manifolds...

9K rpm is easy...I did it for 4 years....some drag racing, a LOT of circuit racing, stock engine, just with increased oil pressure.
When the engine broke due to a faulty fuel pump, the undamaged engine parts were still pretty good IMO...rotors rule!! |
