Ok I just pulled apart this 13B-RE I just got. It looks like its got pretty low miles but looks like its been sitting awhile. I've cleaned up the rotors some and noticed that they look like something is wrong I really dont know how to describe it other than the greyish silver finish has come off. They are in great shape other than that. There isnt any pitting or gouges. I've torn apart a few other engines and I havent seen the rotors look like this. Usually the ones Ive cleaned up end up looking nice and grey/silver even the damaged ones. Are these ok to use? A couple rotorheads I know have said yes and a couple said no. Im not sure.

edit: jacob cant seem to log out at my house. This is DELTA_Rotary.

Those are rusted rotors buddy...not mine so dont come in my thread claming that. but back on to the subject. if all the seal grooves are in spec I'd say yea just get some 260 grit sandpaper and get that off or just wire wheel it with a very soft wire wheel

it kinda does look like a coating, weird

Yeah I dunno if that is rust or not it really doesnt seem like it when you pick them up.

as long as the seal grooves are ok, its a runner

Yes, it's fine. I'd run them all day long. IF it worries you, clean them up a bit more with a wire brush on a drill.

Yeah I think that stuff is the orginal cadmium coating and its worn off some but not all the way. Im pretty sure this engine has REALLY low miles on it. I was finally able to scrub away the rest of it the other night after soaking longer in simple green.
