housing and iron painting?
Hi I just bought some 550°f vht paint so I can paint housings and irons before engine is built so my question is how hot does the outside of a 13b get is the normal temp higher then 550°f.
Thanks |
You will be fine with that paint, make sure to wipe down the parts with acetone before painting.

Try and keep paint away from the exhaust ports unless you like smoke and burnt paint smell every time you run your engine, at least for a couple of days anyway.
|
Ok thanks for the info just one more question, I can not find high temp primer were I live so do you think I can go primer less or should I just order some high temp primer from online.
Thanks |
You can go without the primer.
|
the outside shell of the engine rarely goes much higher than 200F, some areas are hotter like near the exhaust.
|
Ok thanks for all the info but is there any problems with going primer less.
Thanks |

Ok great I just ran parts through parts washer so paint should stick pretty well.
Thanks |
Spray them with brake cleaner before painting.
