Homemade boost leak tester?
 

Alright well, I had a question, possibly a stupid one, buuut will a homemade boost leak tester still work on a rotary considering there are no valves etc.. I doubt it but its worth a question i guess.

The reason I ask is Ive made one and I cant even pressure the system up past 6psi and it just leaks out pretty instantantly, and I cant for the hell of me find out where this so called leak is... Ic ant hear it or find it with soapy water.. its frustrating me. ANY suggestions would be much appreciated.

Mine works...found plenty of vacuum leaks. Check your intercooler and couplers?

don't pay too much attention to the gauge--you won't "hold" pressure, that's not really the point. use an air compessor with a regulator. Keep turning up the regulator until you can locate the leaks. If the system is holding pressure decently the tester will pop off if you turn up the compressor enough.

no. vacuum and boost r opposites of each other so a gauge for one can't be used for the other.

get a plumbing cap,and put a "pool pump gauge" on it.
I found one at Home hardware,they are bout 18 bucks.
I installed that on the cap and also put a Shrader valve(the one that has a nut to install it) on the cap.
a little piece of pipe( about 2.5 inch in diameter) and a silicone coupler,and it is done.

BY the Way: I found that you must use a decent compressor to Give you a Good Jolt of air.You can't just use a 10 dollar tire pump and expect it to give you the air needed,as the engine's leak will expel it as fast as you can pump it in.
