Hollowing out the E-shaft: What do I need?

I have a rusted eshaft that I'm planning to make into a lamp (connected to an old flywheel).

I don't believe there is a passage all the way through - but whatever blockades exist are fairly deep in.

What would be the best way to make a lamp cord fit through?

what i would do is take a coat hanger and straighten it.

Stick it in and see how far it goes in.

Mark and take it out. Then compare.

A normal drill bit might make it.

Use the right size so you can use just a tap and screw the fixture on.

you can use the coat hanger to run the cord through.

cool idea.

some stores have long drillbits... just go slow and use lots of wd40 or oil
