Holley 600, Series V 13B Bridgeport

Hi, Andy from NZ.

I've got a recently rebuilt Series V Bridgeport, complete with side seals and 3mm apex seals.

I've put a Holley 600 on it (this motor has never seen a Nikki), and it starts fine with a few pumps when its cold. When's it's hot however is another story, and have sometimes had to use Ether to get it to fire.

If you give it 4 or 5 pumps from the accelerator pump it seems to want to go but never quite gets there.

I've hardly touched the carb other than set the float levels. The accelerator pump is not being operated by the throttle mechanicsm yet, only by hand.

I had a few theories:

a) Old cack leads on it
b) Losing compression when hot due to being new ?
c) Coils only seem to get around 9v when cranking, would this cause a problem ?
d) Holley doesn't seem to put any fuel in when cranking. Where should my idle screws be, and does the idle jet(s) have to be modified in any way to suit the 13B.

Thanks
Andy

I had the same problem kind of,after i drove my car and the engine was warm it wouldnt want to start. All i did was add a spacer (plenum),the car had enough gas but was lacking air and therefore would flood. My car is also bridgeported and running a holley 650. Hope this helps in someway.

What sort of jets are you running ?

Modified much to the carb ?

How big a spacer, and in between the carb and manifold obviously ?

What style/brand air filter do you have ?
