Help removing PS pump and AC comp. 86 FC na
 

If anyone could just help me find a thread in removing all of the PS and AC components before i pull the engine, that would be amazing... Ive scrolled for 45 minutes and xant find jack squat. And we all know the search bar doesn't work in mobile. So , I got the pulley and bolts off the PS pump. But its impossible to get to the 2 bolts that (I think) hold the pump in. Sorry for a new thread, but im sitting in my engine bay right now holding my wrench like a turd...Help a new fc owner out?

why didn't you just disconnect the lines for the PS at the pump?
You are creating a "make work project" doing it the way you are attempting it.

undo the 2 17mm line nuts (S5..maybe just one) and the return line clamp..find the Electrical connector and disconnect that..DONE.

another way is to unbolt the the PS and AC with the bracket and move it over.

What are you talking about? Im trying to remove it all. The two bolts holding the ps pump in are impossible to remove. And you cant even begin to touch the mounting bracket without removing entire ps pump. Still stuck at what you see in the picture. It doesn't matter what I disconnect. I still need the pump out. Also they are 14mm nuts. Only 1 17mm holding the actual pulley plus 3-10mm bolts.

Don't focus on removing the pump from the bracket, I would disconnect the power steering lines in and out, disconnect the electrical, remove the AC compressor between the AC unit and the bracket are the lower mounting bolts for the bracket, the pump will come out with the bracket, there is no reason to remove the pulleys it all comes out in one piece

You do not need to remove the pump.You can yank the engine with the PS Pump ON the engine.
Disconnect the ps lines at the pump and keep the pump ON the engine.
You can see the 2 lines on your pic that you have to undo.

I'm used to an s4 setup where there are 3 lines,so right now according to your pic I see 2..so undo those 2,then double check to see if there is another.

Now as far as A/C..I remember there being some bolts on the side of the compressor to bracket.
.."maybe" you may get a better view from down under and looking up..(I see gravel so I know you do not have an undertray on.).
Most of my cars didn't have A/C but I have taken off more PS pumps and racks and went Manual rack every car I had.
So have patience and if you need more info then post up..Good luck.

Thanks guys..il be back at it pretty soon. But it is an s4, there may be 3 lines. I honestly dont know. But even when I get the engine out, I still need the bastard off. And I was told that taking it off beforehand made the engine pull lesshectic (more shit In the way). But I had to stop because I know have a fuxked up knuckle from trting to crescent wrench those damn bolts

They decided not to stitch and juat cut the chunk and dermabond it. Ill be back at it Saturday morning.

Are you really using a crescent wrench? I would never touch a bolt or nut on any of my cars with one of those. Go to Harbor Fright and pickup a set of normal and deep metric sockets along with the box end wrenches. Using a crescent is a good way to round of the nuts/bolts. I like 6 point if I can find them.

I have a great socket set. Did you look at the picture? Socket wont fit. The pulley spindle is too close and nothing can get around it..

An offset wrench has worked for me.

I'll try it. I'll go grab one tomorrow, but pretty sure it wont grab like the other regular wrenches.that's why I have to use the crescent end, and no give, like said in previous comment, I did almost bal the whole head of the bolt.
