help I'm sure I'll get haters though

My girl friend has a 01 Pontiac grand am sports edition with ram air intake and every time it gets to the right temp it pushes all the water out of the radiator. I know this is a rotary engine form but i really need you're help I'm guessing it's a thermostat though?

sounds like a headgasket, stuck thermostat would likely make it overheat only. water pump can also be stripped. start off by checking for coolantleaks or wetness and white smoke from the exhaust. the properler in the water pump could have fallen off the pump. or worst case a headgasket popped. my sisters lumina did this. 3.4 leter engine right? if im not mistaken they are known for headgasket failure. pull the rad cap off with the engine cold, top off coolant then rev the motor, does coolant shoot out? if so expect combustion gasses intering the coolant system, head gasket and possible warped head. have you had any coolant system repairs or had the coolant drained reciently? if so air could also be trapped in the system blowing out as steam. (not likely but could happen) also a severly clogged radiator will cause similar issues and coolant fans might not be coming on. hows the temp gauge looking? does it ever go past half way?

get the cooling system pressure tested, sounds like a head gasket though

Cooling system has air in it.

VERY easy to get massive air pockets in the 3100/3400 engines. There's a dead zone around cylinder #1 that is impossible to get coolant into unless you use an airlift to fill the system.
