HELP! Apex seals or?

OK I got the 12a home and decided to crank it over and check the apex seals by listening for the "pss" sounds with the leading plug out.

My front rotor is fine but the back rotor has the typical "pss......pss.....pss" of a blown apex seal.

This car sat for a while, is it possible it could be another problem? Is there anything I should try before yanking the motor?

Do a real compression check and find out. That or look pull the exhaust manifold off and take a look to see if they are all still there.

I'll try pulling the manifold later today. I'm also going to try putting some oil into the peanut and see if it frees anything up.

Use ATF. It cleans will it makes compression.

Ive heard to use MMO and not ATF. Just my .02

Mmo?

Use a compression tester. If you get two low bounces you have a blown apex seal. If they are all low, you have more than one blown. Taking the manifold off takes 3x as long.

OK I did a compression test, and the front rotor is extremely weak and the rear one has a blown seal. Motor swap/rebuild time.

What is the MINIMUM required to replace apex seals? I'm really stuck by time constraints here, I'm losing my garage space as of 5/20, so it needs to be running or go into storage.

All apex seals..don't half ass apex seals.

I'm buying another motor. I wouldn't just replace some apex seals that would be like re-ringing only a few pistons. I meant as far as gaskets and whatnot is concerned. But this motor is getting yanked and rebuilt... ported and boosted.... YUM.
