Greddy Turbos

I have a greddy/trust TD07 that I'm trying to install. I've had lots of issues, but the latest has to do with the exhaust housing flange that mates to the DP. I bought the turbo used and it came with the flange tack welded in place. However when I took the housing off to get coated, then tried to put it back on, the welds busted off. So I figured I'd just have it welded back on, but I'm finding that its not supposed to be welded.

Anyhow, I've called a local turbo shop as well as greddy. The turbo shop told me that it shouldn't be welded because its cast, but they do not carry the seal rings that sit inside a groove in the housing and are supposed to keep it in place. When I called greddy, they said they didn't know what rings I was talking about. If anyone has info, it would be greatly appreciated. Its the same exhaust housing as the T78 BTW.

Thanks,
Shep

I am currently ordering one of these from greddy. Call greddy and ask for Ted, explain what it is and tell him that someone else just ordered one for a T88. The only problem that you will have is that it will probably take about 12 weeks to get here from Japan because they don't have any in stock, except for the one they got for me. Also if for some reason they send you my ring by accident, i will kill you. j/k

Thanks for the tip, I'll give them a call.

Ted was gone when I called yesterday. The guy I talked to said he's pretty sure they don't stock any, and if they order it I'll have to wait 6+ weeks to order it from trust. So is there any chance I can use a V-band on that housing?

well...I'm pretty sure the purpose of the ring that goes in the groove is to expand when it gets hot and make a seal around the housing, but i could be wrong. I don't really know of any alternatives that would be as effective, but maybe if you talked to someone at a fabricating shop of something they would be able to tell you what could be done.
