Girlfriend Fried Electrical (I think) HELP!

Hello, let me explain briefly my issue. I am not asking you to be a mechanic, just some thoughts. Last evening I got my 1990 RX7 GTU (Non-Turbo) out of storage. OF course the battery was dead, so my girlfriend thought it would be a nice gesture to try and jump it. In the midst of jumping it she crossed the negative/positive cables. She said they were probably on for about 5 seconds and realized something was wrong - she took them off! Now the head lights come on, they stay stuck up - the dash will NOT light up, and the car wont turn over.. so I am assuming electrical..(duh.) Can you help me here? Maybe where to start trouble shooting!?! I would greatly appreicate it!

You would probably have more luck with replies posting in the 2nd gen. Specific section.

Try checking all your fuses in both fuse blocks; the one beside the hood release on the interior and the one under the hood on the drivers side beside the battery. If all fuses are good, which I'm sure their not, try replacing the battery or having yours tested to see if it's fried. And prey that it didn't fry your ECU. Advance Auto or Napa will test the battery for free.

Good luck

Thanks

Thanks guys, I did look under the hood at the "Main fuse" 100a - its blown. I am just hoping it blew before it got to the ECU - since electric can "Arc" over even if it blows thats my main concern... Ill let you know the status - so we can close the thread... thanks very much ("Strangles girl friend")

Oh yeah....Jump by using the body as a ground and a clamp on the positive lead. Mucho safe.

The FC ECUs are very tough, it is likely to still be fine. just replace the main fuse and you should be set.
