As long as its OEM and off the same model car its Plug & Play.

if it already has a half decent map you can almost plug and play

but it will still need to be tuned

Are you asking about a "Factory" or a "Performance" ECU?

liKeiThil 03-03-04 09:43 AM

Factory . . . 88 or 89 GXL ECU into a 1991 Fc3s n/a s5 13b injec.

As long as it is the same series it will work. Other then that good luck. I have swaped ECU within a series before but not outside of that.

question?

Hey, will a N326 from like a 88 or 89 swap into my 1991 with a N350 no problem?

You may ONLY use what came out of the car. S4 (86-88) ECUs only work in S4 cars. S5 (89-91) ECUs only work in S5 cars. If you wanted to do a total conversion, you would have to re-do most of the wiring harnesses, gague pods, and sensors/devices in the car. Convert to a mechanical OMP, and you would probably loose most power above 7000rpm (unverified, but S4 ECUs are said to not be able to run above 8k-rpm).
