gearbox
hello good people.
i have a rx4 12a 5 speed gearbox, will a 13b hook up to it? or even a 12a single dizzy engine? my engine is a twin dizzy but i want to use the 12a twin dizzy gearbox. is there any difference? regards |
yes. the bolt pattern for the bellhousing to rear plate r all the same. except maybe those with top mount starter. never owned on so can't be for sure.

Why not just use the matching flywheel and starter? You'll just have to be sure to use a counterweight that matches the rotors. I don't know how it is for RX-4s and 1st gen RX-7s, but 2nd gen RX-7 flywheels have integrated rear counterweights (manual trans), and automatics have a removable counterweight that is useful for aftermarket light flywheel balancing. For instance, to use a TII transmission on an NA 13b engine, the TII flywheel and starter are used. If your starter wiring isn't long enough, you could run new cables.
