Gas mileage help

I want an rx7, but it will have to be my daily driver. Is there any way to tune it to get better than 15 mpg?

Thanks,
James

Overall, anyone who tells you that a rotary is fuel efficient is kidding themselves ....

FWIW; My 13B FD with basic bolt ons (DP, High Flow Cat, FMIC, PFC, upgraded inj., etc.) gets around 16 mpg with spirited driving. More conservative, highway driving should easily exceed that ....

you have to use premium too right, or at least above 90 octane?

what model 7? fb, fc, fd? turbo? with a fd model with just basic bolt ons. you will see a range from 18-21mpg.

i wish i could afford an fd, but im looking at a 91 convertable, but i want to turbo it

Buying a Conv. with intentions of turbo'ing it will cost a lot (from what I hear) you'd be better off with buying a TII itself or a Conv. with a blown motor.

Do FD's get better MPG than FC's?!

94' Rx-7 Full bolt-ons...

Driving with mileage in mind...
City: 16-18
Hwy: 24-26
(With 0 boosting on the highway, and never over 6psi city...)

I daily drive my car and do some pulls to 130 most nights when I work late, other than that I don't really speed or take off, I get an average of about 15mpg. It dosen't sound that bad but it takes premium so its about 40-50 dollars to fill her up right now.

If gas mileage is a concern I would recommend a N/A if you HAVE to get an Rx7.......but really I wouldn't recommend an Rx7 at all :)

haha, thanks, i really like fd rx7s, but could settle for an fc, but im still considering a 240 w/ an sr20det just cause they're cheaper.

Not with an NA. In fact, use 85 if you can find it, or 87.

initial D is REAL! 04-15-07 05:03 AM

Haha, I just switched from the NIssan sr20 world over to the Mazda rotary world. sr20det's arent that cheap anymore. Their stock vlsd is trash. Better than nothing I guess. The brakes off the 240sx cry for an upgrade.

The rx7 has horrible gas mileage, but I didnt buy it because of that. Its a lot better platform to start with than a 240sx
