fuel Injector top colors ....88 RX non turbo convert

Bear with me while I share this story please. This is my 4th RX and have had this non turbo convertible since it was new in 1988 and it has 134,000K and in really amazing condition and has caused me very little trouble except tires, brakes, clutch, exhaust which are all normal to replace with age.Had inside injectors replaced in Aug 2017 due to bad fuel leak. Mechanic is not Mazda but very good and has worked on the car before...alternator, radiator hoses, etc. He adjusted the idle up to 2300 and wanted me to drive it for a while to let the injectors settle in and clean out, etc. It ran fine except the high idle sounded like I was at NASCAR but cold starting in the morning would show 2300 and then it dropped fast and stalled almost immediately. I had to hold gas pedal down and let it idle for 3 minutes at 2300 for it not to stall. Then it would be fine while I ran errands, etc except for the high idle of course. Told him about the cold start when I took it back last Wed to adjust the idle back down. They adjusted the idle back to 800-900 but when pressing gas it would stall over and over. I was a witness and even sat in the car and started it over and over and pressed the gas when he told me to while they worked on the idle and every time I gave it gas…stalled. They worked on adjusting it all day. He thought maybe the throttle cable was bad as the spring did not seem to want to act right but then they found a cracked vacuum intake gasket so replaced that yesterday and hoped that would do it and he says it idles better but its really rough and he doesn’t like it and still stalls some. SO……he just called me and is wondering about the injectors they replaced. The question is…what about the color of the top of the injectors? The ones they put in are orange topped and when he ordered them it said for 86-88 RX . He was looking around today and saw some others that have purple tops for 86-88. He knows its non turbo but we can't validate if the ones he ordered said non turbo. The old injectors they took out had black tops but keep in mind they were the originals. He wants to know if there is a difference in black or orange or purple topped injectors for this car and asked me if I would check with my RX forum sources. He looked at rx7 forums but could not find what he wanted. He also has the service manual on line but it doesn’t say anything about the color of the injector tops. HELP PLEASE

Thanks
Terri

it boils down to the wiring harness and the impedance (resistance) of the injectors..
If the car has a Resistor pack on it then it requires the LO impdance injectors..If is has NO resistor pack on it then it requires HI impedance injectors,
There is info in the Stickied FAQ section on what the year of car came with.,

So you are saying that the resistor pack determines the type (color) of the injector? I saw turbo injectors on ebay and they have purple tops but mine is not turbo. I can't find the FAQ sticky you refer to. I looked at the 2nd gen group of threads but don't see it. Can you help me find it? Thanks so much

UPDATE: I called a dealership since I don't have one in my area any longer and he took my VIN and looked it up and the injectors have orange tops so thats not the problem. THanks again
