Front Hub Wobbles
 

what would cause the front hub to wobble?

i took off the pullys and the crank angle sensor on a FD and the belts and cranked the engine and the front hub (that holds the main crank pully) wobbles..

could it be a bent e-shaft bolt? or bad thrust bearings in the front cover? or very unlikely but a bent e-shaft? or a bad main bearing?

i am not new to engine building or FDs but this problem yes.

Is there a way you can get a Video of it, Or some photos with 1/4 degree turns

the spacer probably slipped out of place from the rear thrust bearing.

so i should lift the engine 4" and support it from the top and take off the oil pan and then the front cover and check the thrust bearing for dammage?

would it be bad if i did this for a test:
take off the main front hub bolt and the front hub (being careful to not let the bearing slip down by keeping the key in place) and see if the e-shaft wobbles? just a few cranks?

well, i'm not going to say it can't be done with the engine in the car, but i've never had to do it. the only times i ever touch the thrust bearings are when i'm doing a build, thus the motor is already out of the car. what i will say is that with you driving like that, the rear thrust bearing may be damaged, so you definitely need to check it. wish i was of more help.

pain in the ass to do in the car but can be done...
