Found out why my car ran after shut-down!

My battery was fried. I tested it for voltage and it checked out fine, but then I decided to leave the tester on it for a while and believe it or not the son of a bitch was draining itself just sitting on the ground. So I took it back and got a new one, put it in, and the car runs like new now. So if your car runs after you shut down, check your battery. The reason for this is that if a battery goes dead too many times the plates inside the battery start to warp, and once they touch each other the battery will actually short itself out. And everything else in the car will act funny. So believe me, check your battery five times before you go ahead and rip out your entire wiring harness.........

I'm glad you solved your problem

It really sucks not being able to figure out for a while what is going wrong, but that makes solving the problem all the more sweeter I guess. It's also funny to see how seemingly difficult situations can have suprisingly simple solutions. Have fun!

Good Fix!

Just goes to show how important that battery is! I solved like %99 of my problems with a nice battery and new cables and an extra ground to the engine (that is where the ECU grounds are located)
Good Fix! Makes ya kinda wish you had tried that first huh!:D

Cool  . I was going to try and help but I couldn't put my finger on it. I've had similar problems with the battery. I'll keep that in mind thanks for the follow-up

My battery problems

Something happened to my car a while ago too. I was driving, then I stopped to get some food...my car would not start after I came out...

I tried to figure out what was going on, the clock was resetting and my lights would dim when I tried to use my starter. I thought maybe something was jammed and the engine wouldn't start.

I found out that the battery connectors were so corroded that the connection to the battery terminals were not connecting to them.

I just sanded them down for now, but I am in search of some good connectors for replacements (I have seen some nice gold plated ones.
