FMIC vs. SMIC

what's better the front mount intercooler or stock mount intercooler for the 3rd gen?

front mount will allow for a much larger surface area, more air flow to the ic, and thus much better cooling..
i donot think that there is any contest between them

Well generally this is the basic rule but the results of using a larger FMIC will heat and will restrict airflow to the radiator. Some cars are marginally capable of cooling under normal usage...On the FD's, the radiator is mounted near horizontal when compared to most cars. In addition, this particular design using a FMIC can easily upset the flow, also resulting in inefficient engine cooling when needed most. There are exceptions to every rule, but for the most part I would find a more efficient intercooler which utilize the stock FD location.
Knight Sports has a very nice Twin Core Intercooler design that is considered one of the best...

I do not recommend a front mount if you haven't upgraded your radiator yet. However, if you have a nice aftermarket radiator then a front mount will give the extra surface area to cool down those combustion temps. You should definately look into a radiator before an intercooler. Safety before performance.
