flywheel problem
i took the flywheel nut off but i cant take off the FLYWHEEL
does anybody know how to take it off is there any tricks to it thanks |
Well the right way would to get a T puller and pull it off. If you really want to get it off you can hit the non machined part with a hammer and prying out with a pry bar and it should pop off.
Good luck! |
do not hit the flywheel directly. place a piece of plywood over the flywheel and hit the wood. just be sure to either replace your thrust bearings or scrutinize them very carefully before that motor is reassembled.

The puller is only $35 from RB.
Another alternative is to run two bolts through the threaded holes in the center of the flywheel. Slide a couple pieces of scrap steel under the bolts for them to bottom against. Tighten the bolts to push the flywheel off the crank. Grind a taper on the end of each bolt and clean the threads before using them to prevent them from mushrooming out too much and causing them to tear the threads out of the flywheel when you remove them. |
Last tip, keep the flywheel nut on the end so the flywheel doesn't pop off and hit you as you are popping it loose.
