FD speed density onto a S4 FC setup/
 

allow me to explain this a little. basically, i want to rid myself of the maf sensor for purposes of a 1/2 bridge. but i dont want to get a standalone ecu. thinking creatively, i already have a greddy emanage (blue) with all the addon whatnot. but its not really picky about what it working on. so im thinking i could use it as a bridge between the s4 motor and the FD's speeddensity controls. im thinking all i would need is the FD ecu, the sense in question, and maybe the upper intake and tb assembly. not sure what else is really there id need but with the wiring harness from an FD im sure i can make this work.

also, i know a standalone would make more power but again, college student, money factors, blah blah blah.

i'm no expert...

but the FD uses magnetics for a CAS vs the huge chunk of metal on the FC's

also the S4 uses mechanical OMP but u could solve that with premix...

i think u'll end up like the 20B guys.. it CAN be done running on stock ecu..

but it just aint worth the time and effort.. and saving up for a E6X or used E6k won't cost much more then just trying to source all the REW equipment needed to ATTEMPT running it

but that would be a matter for the timing. timing i can work around, its a matter of how the air flow is monitored. does the FD ecu have a stored calculation based on rpms only? and no direct air flow monitoring? that would be kinda stupid in a sense.

that's why the FD ppl have the "3mod rule"


after u put Intake full exhaust intercooler... the boost creeps up too much and the maps cant compensate for fuel

and u grenade the motor...

it's really stupid... and so many ppl (including myself) have lost a motor this way

so most FD ppl get a Power FC or other fuel computer after/with basic boltons...

alot of effort will be needed to put into it.

Won't the FD ecu freak out a little when it doesn't see all the proper sensors? And would an FD ecu even know how to run the motor? The E-Manage still relies on the stock computers sensor controls and timing maps, it's just a very powerful AFC.

It seems to me it would be easier to make some sort of converter for the FD maf to what the FC ECU is expecting. There's going to be some correlation of the data at some point, so if you can figure out how they both work, seems to me this would be the toughest thing in the world (if you're an electrical engineer ;) )

actaully. that is the reason i think it can work. its all rpm based. i can add or compenstate for sensors the ecu might want. if its rpm based, it is a 13b. so its not like im trying to use it on my jetta. hell i have access to parts for a fair price where i could give it a try. maybe bench test it somehow.
