FD does not start w/ key...

i recently bought a 93 RX-7 FD and since i am getting used to the ACT performance clutch i stalled the engine quite a few times. anyhow, after that happened the car will no longer turn on through the ignition. it does however come to life with a rolling clutch start and works perfectly fine.

my first move was on the battery, i took it to the autozone and they said it had only 25% charge remaining. i got it back 3hrs later and the clerk said it was "fully charged" altho i sensed some uncertainty in his voice. i go home and my EMS system reads the voltage sitting at 12.1v. we attached jumper cables to the battery and it went up to 14.1v however this method still didnt allow the engine to crank. when turning the key to start it, all i hear is a single click from inside.

while this is happening, on the outside you hear a successive amount of clicks from what looks like the distributor? its on the passenger's side closest to the windshield. its metallic and silver, and closely attached to it is a black plastic fuse box. it is rectangular in shape with 4 metal pipes running into it connecting at the top. any insight you guys can offer will be greatly appreciated, it appears to be a very minor issue but i cant help but worry since the FD is my dream ride

at first we assumed it was the starter, but after hearing this sound it appears maybe this can be the whole cause to the issue aside from a weak battery. anybody have any ideas? ill re-post at home with a more elaborate/descriptive idea as to what i am thinking the distributor is.

My dad's 80's mustang had that problem and it turned out to be a bad spot on the flywheel.
