FD Alternator Wiring in an FC (No stock wiring present)

Hello-

I've done plenty of searching and I know about the diagram in the FAQ for alternator wiring and I have tried several variations but this seems to not be working.

The alternator in question is a new high output FD alt.

I obviously have the B+ stud running straight to the battery through a 150a circuit breaker with 4ga.

S terminal runs straight to the + terminal on the battery for voltage sense with it's own 16ga wire.

L terminal (I think this is the source of the issue) I currently have a light bulb wired to it with switched 12v on one side, wire from the L terminal on the other.

As I understand it, this load on the L terminal is supposed to "excite" the alternator and when it's charging the light should go out. Problem is the light never goes out and the alternator never charges.

Does anyone know what the alternator is expecting to see as a load on that wire? Keep in mind this car no longer has any factory wiring related to the charging system as it's running on a standalone.

After much pain and anguish it turns out I've answered my own question. Turns out in addition to the light... a diode is also necessary. We have charging!

It figures it would finally work after I post a thread on the topic...
