FC3S Questions

Whats up guys..

I am working on a 86 non turbo fc3s. and i am in the process of buying a clutch and motor mounts. I am hearing that the ACT clutch is not as good as it was before???? and not sure if I should buy the solid m motor mounts or not. Will my motor shifting with the solids brake anything?? As far as the clutch im looking for a 6 puk clutch center sprung. so far i seen the ACT, Clutch Masters, Exedy, and Competition clutches. Just not sure on quality these days...

Can anyone please let me know what there experience's have been with any of these clutches??

what are your plans for the engine? you don't want to get "too much" clutch, but it also makes no sense buying "not enough" either. i usually try to buy just a stage higher than what my engine actually puts out. as for brands, i have used quite a few over the years.

ACT - i have been nothing but pleased with them - my personal favorite
Exedy - good in stock replacement situations
ClutchMasters - had one installed in my brother's car and it's going strong 10 years later - not used often, but used hard a lot.
Centerforce - these were the clutches i used until i started buying ACT. no complaints

i've heard enough horror stories about SPEC and rotaries to be completely disinterested in ever using one. for what it's worth people in the Porsche and Audi worlds seem to enjoy some successful use with them though.

i can't speak on the solid engine mounts. i actually have a set here, waiting to install after the car is finally running. the truth is you probably don't NEED them (and that goes for me, too), but you have options. i have seen some polyurethane ones and some made from another material as well (i'm tempted to say Delrin) as well.

for both the mounts and the clutches, you should probably search a bit just to get feedback from multiple people.

ACT is still the clutch of choice around here, anyone tells you otherwise and they probably don't know what a wrench is.

but a 6 puck isn't going to be your typical clutch and could wind up destroying that fragile transmission. even the stage 2 ACT clutch is rated at 270wtq, plenty enough to break the transmission and should be plenty grabby while still giving a near stock engagement.

Thanks guys.
Well appreciated.

The plans for the engine are>>> 6 port custom bridge port, with pineapple racing street exhaust ports. on top mounting a 650 demon carb, header and 3" piping with resonator and mugen muffler for the moment.

Might wanna re think the exhaust. It's going to be well over 100Db.
My half bridge kills brain cells ..
