hi there, I recently purchased a 1986 GXL. car has a few issues such as bad BAC valve, typical 3800 hesitation, other typical FC stuff. engine has been running strong however, the other night after I put a thermostat in it (wasn't one prior to) fully bled the system, and then took the car for a drive. low coolant buzzer is on at all times, even though it is full. super annoying but whatever, I was putting up with the buzzing, but as I was turning at an intersection (in second) the car fell flat on its face and started running horrible. pulled off the road and immediately died. got it to barely start, but wouldn't idle. when keeping it alive, it had severe hesitation, vibrating like crazy, and popping out the exhaust. will not move under own power. messed with the TPS, and it will now roughly idle at 2k, but if I rev it, it'll hesitate, and then drop to 500 and then rise back up. managed to limp it back down the street to my shop, and the thing did not want to move itself. good oil pressure, no smoke, not leaking anything. started the car yesterday to see if it was an intermittent issue, and it was billowing oil smoke for a bit, and eventually calmed down, but it was also -5 degrees out so I am hoping that is related to it. my question here is where do I start? I'm used to messing with cylinders, but bought a rotary with intentions of learning about the engine, just didn't expect a major issue like this so soon. any help is appreciated, thank you!
