f&f veilside rx7: 306 hp and 305's in the rear only gets 14.1?

the f&f veilside t04z rx7 only makes 306hp? my understanding that of an even poorly tuned hks t04z setup a 13b that has enough compression to startup and drive should be making more than 306 to the wheels even on the wastegate spring. what's going on here? can driving a 13b single loose that much power even if the engine isn't blown by driving it hard for a long while?

did someone jack up the afr's to like 8:1 or retard the timing a bunch just to see how low hp they could go and still drive it??

another thing i dont get: even if the rx7 has an extra 500 pound body kit on it (about 3400 lbs car) and horrible launching rear suspension, 305's in the rear and 306 to the wheels should still get faster than 14.1 quarter mile... what gives?

"But this car was beat up during the production and on the chassis dyno it produced only 306 horsepower at 6,650 rpm and 256 pound-feet of torque at 5,950 rpm at the rear wheels — better than stock, but nowhere near its potential. More importantly, there was little low-end torque to get those big wheels turning. It took 6 seconds for the flying brick to hit 60 mph and 14.1 seconds to run the quarter-mile at 104.5 mph. Stock third-generation U.S.-spec Mazda RX-7s easily bettered those times when they were being sold new in the '90s."

who knows and cares the movies suck they only have nice looking cars thats it,they never go all out and make them fully build.only car that actully was good was the Supra from the 1st one they actully had their engine build from suprastore.com

it could be less than 10 psi of boost ?:P

Hmmmm, I don't know.

The car STARTED as a real nice car.

I don't know what Universal did to it once they bought it....

I read that they blew through 9 diffs, and a couple engines while shooting the movie....

and the cars where all auctioned after the movie was done its debut. ;)

Who cares how wide the tires are it doesnt make it any fast. I fact it just slows it down.
If they feel the need to test a car that bought for braging rights and then beaten to hell that up to them.

ohh I also recall that they had to shave off LOTS of the tread on the rear tires, cause the car just couldnt spin those steam-roller tires! :P

BTW I dont even think you can drift at the speed/angle (low speed and high steering angle) they do in the movie with tires that wide. they are just too grippy... you need lots of power and speed

The kit is so heavy durrr, not to mention the sound system etc.

i think someone on the forum bought this car. ask him what it puts out.

reduced tread 305s could def explain the 1/4mile time...

but still, a stock 93 with 225s and 225 whp pulling off 13.9s and a 306 whp with dumbed down 305s managing only 14.1 is still hard to believe

but i guess they wanted a 12" wheels to drift at 25 mph so those 305s must be really special
