Engine build questions
 

Well I finally got one of my engines apart, and its a gsl-se 13b. Its been rebuilt before, becuase theres 2 piece apex seals, housins are in good shape and previous owner claimed it. Only one problem, the compressions was horrible on it, or non exsistant. That thing is soo gunked up with carbon, its silly. Right now Im having a bad time with the side seals, and cant get them out. I need some advise to get them out, I was using a pick, but thats not effective anymore. Also what cleaner should I use, that is worth my money? I only ask this as a college student and dont have much money into this project yet.

Oh and the housings would be perfect, but the surface right next to the side plate looks like it had water in it and sat for a while... Well it kinda rusted and pitted it up. Other then that, theres no real gouges or chatter marks or anything like that.

Im still wondering what to do with this engine, rather I want to sell it or build a ported engine up and get a engine controller for it too.

What are you looking to spend on your rebuild? Any how try going to your local auto supply store and buy a gallon of carb cleaner. Pour some of the solution in a bucket and place your rotor stuck side down into it. Wait about 4-8 hrs and your stuck seal should come out. I would try using a broken side seal to help remove it rather then a pick.

I can put what ever into the engine for money, I pretty much need a complete kit to feel good about it. Im not in need of another engine yet, and its not a daily driver so I can take my time with this. Do you think that GUNK carb cleaner will work alright? I dont want to goto napa, as Im an ex-employee from there and pay too much for the carb cleaner...

GSL-SE engines had 2 piece apex seals from the factory-also 3mm design.they switched to 2mm -3piece seals when the 2nd gen RX7 was introduced

Well this doesnt have 130k worth of wear. and had non factory sealant here and there. also the main nut had marks on it before I touched it.
