Driving with low compression
 

Im pretty sure this is probably a bad thing, but I was wondering how bad it is to drive a car thats got a bad rotor. Im looking to buy this TII that hit the fuel cut off and apparently lost compression in 1 rotor, its able to be push started, and the guy lives less than 50 miles from my house.. also, if its got low compression, would it be eaiser to get it to pass emissions inspections? Cause if thats the case i might do that, so i can get my 2 year sticker and rip out all the restrictions :D Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

*low* compression = don't drive it. there might be still enough left to make rebuilding it economically sound.

*no* compression = drive it. it ain't gonna get worse. alhough the fuel burning in the exhaust might burn up the turbo.

Engine compression problems
 

I have a 1987 non-turbo rx7 that always floods. I have taken it to mechanics, but after a couple of days the problem is back. I've tried blowing out wet plugs and pulling the fuel pump fuse, but still have problems. I'm in the Topeka-Lawrence-Kansas City area. Know any great mechanics?

I saw peejay talk about low compression and a response about rebuilding engine. I ws told you can't rebuild a low rotary engine.

If it's *low* there might still be enough left to rebuild, since nothing has broken.

If there's *no" compression, then 99.99% of the time has broken and the chunks have taken out at least one housing and the rotor.
