first of all ... is the car all stock?
well, the filter would not cause your starvation problems only in turns, it would be everywhere, but especially at the higher RPM. i only mentioned the filter because i figured it would be best to start off trying to find your problem, knowing that your fuel system is healthy. did the car sit, undriven, for any period of time?
to be honest, i'm not sure why your dad would talk about fuel tank baffles. did you do something to your tank that would alter it in any way? besides, you said that it happens whether it's full or low ... so i'm definitely a bit curious as to why he would say that. the stock tank must have some sort of baffle system or surge tank system to compensate for cornering. unfortunately, i can't speak that intelligently on the fuel tank of the Gen II cars ... so this may just be a load of crap ...
it may very well be the pump about to shit itself, but that still would not explain why it only happens in left turns ... now does it? i'd start simple, like checking the wiring (the pump, the injectors, etc.) to see if there are any loose connections that may loose contact under the loads of a left turn. if they all seem fine, then maybe drain the tank and have it cleaned out ... could be rust water or rust flakes. however, don't condemn the pump until you've exhausted all the cheaper possibilities first, because in my experience, EFI pumps usually just crap out without warning, so if the car is starting at all and it revs out smooth and clean, then i would not suspect the pump just yet.
