cranks then stops
 

I'm going to describe this the best way that I can. I have a 1993 Rx-7, the problem that I am having is that when I slowly turn the key (normal turning speed) to start nothing happens. In order to get the car to crank I have to quickly turn the key from on to run. Once I do that it will crank for 1-2 seconds then stops. If I do that a few times I can get the car to start. I was suggested to test the ignition switch which I did and came to the conclusion that it was faulty. I bought I new ignition switch and tested it before I installed it, everything checked out. Hoping that that would fix my issue it did not. I'm at a loss for ideas and need some help, any information would be helpful.

Check and clean the battery connections,especially the cables to the Engine and the starter itself.Make sure that you have a good ground off the battery to the engine.(The starter would have good ground to the engine,obviously as it is atteched..lol!)
Corrosion acts in mysterious ways and you can have a perfectly cranking car one day and a "WTF is goin on??" car the next!

I will have to check that check that out today. I also failed to mention that I recently replaced the battery with a 550cca battery, that didn't help any.

well..no that wouldn't help as the battery itself would not have had anything to do with the problem.Besides it is about half the Cranking amps of a regular battery.
If you run a smaller CCA'd battery you'd better make sure that your car is mechanically sound and will start pretty well every time,because if you encounter flooding situations that thing will drain very quickly and leave you stationary.

The battery I had before was 440cca which is why I upgraded. It started fine until one day it started with the problem. So I got the 680ca 550cca to help out, or at least I thought it would. I haven't run into flooding issues with the microtech ecu, even with driving right after start up.
